LALITHA SAHASRANAMAM - Namah # 51

LALITHA SAHASRANAMAM

         @ S. Subramaniam

सर्वाभरण-भूषिता (51)

Sarva Abharana Bhushita  (51)

Meaning:

Devi  is adorned with all types of ornaments.

Interpretation:

"All types of Ornaments" is quite an ambiguous term. Lalitha Sahasranamam itself contains reference to various items of jewelry worn by Devi such as Kuruvinda (crown), Nasabharana (mookuthi), Taatanka (Ear studs), Mangalya Sutra, Angada & Keyura (ornaments worn in hands), Rashana (oddiyanam), Manjira (Golusu) etc.

It may be noted all these ornaments are worn by Devi only to attract devotees towards her , just as the way honey in the flowers attracts the bee. These ornaments in fact represent the Shodashi Mantras which are extremely powerful and very auspicious to Sri Vidya Upasana. Devotees meditating upon Devi adorned with all these jewelleries are certain to get Liberation or Mukti.

Adi Shankara explains that Devi Lalitha Tripurasundari, adorned with all jewels, is indeed the ultimate beauty and splendour. Complete submission to the Devi in this form is the only way to surmount and redeem oneself from this maze of Maya. It is through her karuna, that one can break free from the cycle of birth, death and rebirth (Punarapi Jananam  Punarapi Maranam etc.)
