मराली मन्द गमना (47)
Marali Manda Gamana (47)
Meaning:
Devi's walking style is like a female swan (அன்ன நடை). When she came out of the Chidagni kunda She started walking towards the Devas and her walk has been compared to that of a female swan.
Interpretation:
Marali means female swan (male swan is called Marala or Hamsa); Manda means slowness and Gamana stands for style of walking.
Devi walks slowly and with such grace and elegance as that of a female swan is the superficial meaning of the Namah.
The inner meaning, however, deals with the Shaki kuta. Shakti kuta is considered very auspicious and powerful of the three kutas.
Lord Shiva no longer has a separate identity and the two Shiva and Shakti merges together into one in Shaki kuta. When we worship Devi in Shakti kuta form we also worship Lord Shiva as Devi is Shava-Shakti.
It be noted that with this Namah we reach the third and concluding part of Sakti kuta and it contains the last four syllables of the fifteen syllable Panchadasi Mantra. For the Sri Vidya Upasakas, the Panchadasi Mantra is very important.
Mantro Mayo hi Devi says the scriptures and it is mentioned that Lalitha Tripura Sundari Herself is personified in the Panchadasa Mantra.
As elaborated in yesterday's write-up, Adi Shankara is of the view that Devi's gait (walking style - read; அன்ன நடை) should not be compared to that of a swan, and it is the other way round. It is the swan that learn from Devi.
