Nirabadha(177) 


Meaning:

Devi is beyond any wrong inference. 

Human mind tends to draw  some inferences. Sometimes that inference turns out to be wrong due to illusion or Maya. Devi, herself being Maha Maya, can never make any wrong inference. Hence she is addressed as Nirabadha. 



Interpretation:


Nira means nil / nothing; Badha means confused state of mind / or perceiving  an Illusionist state. 


When we expand the Namah we get the phrase : Nirgatah A Badhah Yasyah Sa Whose reality is never sublated. 



Illusion arises out of wrongly identifying an object. For example, identifying a piece of rope as a snake is an illusion. This illusion causes fear etc. Devi, Herself, being Brahman, does not have any such scope for illusions or false notions.


Author's Notes:



While Vaag Devi-s have applied the term Badha in LSN  to describe Devi as the one who does not carry any false notion or wrong perception, in Devi Mahatmyam, the word Bhranti has been used to mean the same context. The term Bhranti also refers to perplexity, confusion, error of judgment, false impression etc.

नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥



Salutations to Her, Salutations to Her, Salutations to Her, Salutations again and again to that Devi who in all beings is abiding in the Form of Delusion. 


Noted Telugu and Sanskrit scholar and and an authority on LSN, Brahmasri Vinnikota Venkata Lakshmi Narasimham clarifies Bhranti roopena does not literally mean Devi is in the form of Bhranti but the one who removes such Bhranti (delusion) from the minds of her devotees.
