LALITHA SAHASRANAMAM

[ 45 Nitya-shudha Nitya-budha Niravadya Nirantara ]
निरवध्या (150)
Niravadhya (150)
Meaning
Devi is inviolable and without any blemish, without any defects.
Interpretation:
Avadhya means incapable of being transgressed or dishonoured. Defects arise out of ignorance or ignorance is the cause of differentiating between defect and perfect. There cannot be any defect in the Brahman as it is eternally pure. It is in this context that Devi is referred to as Niravadhya.
Reference by Adi Shankara:
Unfortunately this namah Niravadhya is not easily traceable in any of the major compositions of Adi Shankara.
Quotes from other texts:
Quote 1 of 3 - From Manusmriti:
To quote from the Manusmriti which says यावानवध्यस्य वधे (Yavanavadhyasya vadhe) we get to know that Vadha means something that gets killed, that gets destroyed. Therefore Avadhya stands for that which cannot be killed - that is indestructible. Devi is the one who can be called Nirvadhya.
Quote 2 of 3 From Guru Raghavendra Slokam
When Sri Raghavendra was just about to enter the Jeeva Samadhi, his principal disciple Appannacharya was held up on the other side of the river.
He could not arrive in time and later composed a sloka on his guru, the last three words of which are believed to have been completed by the Guru himself.
We find a mention of the word Niravadhya in the sloka
Nirastha dhosho niravadhya vesha,
Prathyarthi mookhtwa nidhana bhasha,Vidhwath parigneya maha visesho,Vaghwaiswari nirjjatha bhavya sesha., || 6 ||
Quote 3 of 3
In the book Dasa Kumara Charita too we find a mention about Niravadhya:
हृद्य- निरवद्यरूपो भूपो बभूव
Hrudya Niravadya rupo babhiva
In which the word Niravadhya stands for blameless, faultless, unblameable, unobjectionable etc.
Author's Notes:
Looking at the namah from the point of view of devotees, there are several doubts and blemishes that arise in the minds of devotees due to ignorance. These impurities can be removed and minds cleansed ONLY by meditating upon Devi in her form as Niravadhya.
